Veterans and their families and volunteers filled the Quinlan Visual Arts Center Saturday, November 4, 2017creating 31 new pavers to add to the Parklet. There were students from Gainesville High and also North Georgia College participating, as well as Veterans from both Army and Navy. One of the veterans, David, said how much he enjoyed contributing to the Parklet and will tell others about the upcoming workshops.
VETERAN'S WORKSHOP 8/5/17 Next Workshop 10/7, 9:30 - Noon
Volunteers filled the workshop at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center Saturday, August 5th to add their creative touch making mosaic pavers for the Verteran's Parklet. The Gainesville Times ran a story on 8/6 and included several pictures of TEAM HOME DEPOT working on the benches and the tables. http://www.gainesvilletimes.com/section/6/article/124699 Ronnie Hoopes, a Vietnam veteran and his wife Jean made several mosaic pavers. Jason Smith along with Mary Frances Hull are creating the designs for the benches and tables. Home Depot gave us a grant, and their TEAM HOME DEPOT lead by Isaias Martinez volunteered their time and talent to help construct the parklet. Thank you GAL members for volunteering your time, and Paula Lindner from the Quinlan who contacted Home Depot to secure the grant, and The Quinlan Visual Arts Center for hosting this event.
