SHOW COMMENTS: This show overall was very impressive work, there was a good variety of media, excellent techniques and hanging. There was a good range of creativity. If I had more prizes to give out I would have. I had some difficulty choosing the winners.
BIOGRAPHY: I have worked within the watercolor medium for the past 20 years and also work in pastel and various drawing mediums. I studied with the renowned John Pike, A.W.S., at his school in Woodstock, NY during four summer sessions. Further studies included instruction from several other nationally known professionals such as: Claude money, A.W.S., Zoltan Szabo, Tony Van Hasselt, A.W.S., Arthur Barbour, A.W.S; and Tony Couch
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL, majoring in Advertising Design, with minors in Fashion Illustration and Art History.
Leading companies and establishments who have purchased my works for their corporate collection include: AT&T, The Atlanta Hospital, Emory Hospital, Equinox Corporation, Greater Atlanta Christian Schools, Inc., BankSouth, Inc., Trinity School, Lanier Plaza Hotels, Kimberly-Clark, Siemens Corporation, Germany, Prime Bank, Eagles Landing Country Club, Delta Air Lines, Hyatt Regency Dorado, Puerto Rico, Wachovia Bank, Charlotte, NC, and UPS, Atlanta.
I have received over 45 awards in shows and competitions throughout the southeast region My subject matter is varied, including portraits, landscapes, buildings, still life, etc. I paint from life or from photographs taken while traveling. I also enjoy doing commission works for private and corporate collectors, utilizing my design and architectural background to produce paintings in a somewhat literal style. My main objective when creating a painting is to be able to convey the actual feeling of a scene visually, rather than its photographic reality.
I am currently teaching watercolor in all levels at the following places: Atlanta Athletic Club in Duluth, Abernathy Art Center in Sandy Springs, and Spruill Center for the Arts in Dunwoody.
